SpotTurn planespotting into a game.
Spot aircraft in the real world, earn points, and compare your finds with friends.
Native app download links are coming soon.
How it works
Find it on the map, spot it in the sky, and it’s in your log before it’s out of sight.
The live map shows the real aircraft around you. Tap one to see its flight, route, aircraft type and registration.
When you can see it in the sky, press Spot. Spotted! The points land right away, with a badge when it’s a new airframe or a personal best.
Every spot lands in My Log with its route, the moment and the points it earned. Your spots, airframes and points add up.
What makes it fun
A one-off paint job. A tail you keep seeing. The aircraft that flew you home. planespottr notices what makes each sighting different, turns it into points, and lets you share it with friends.
The aircraft. What makes this one worth a look.
Special liveries
Retro schemes, flags and one-off paint jobs get a Special livery badge and earn more Spot Value. The unusual one is always worth stepping outside for.
Special livery bonus
Sample flight card: Southwest WN53 from Washington (DCA) to Dallas (DAL), Boeing 737 N1776R, with a 1 previous spot badge and a Special livery badge.

Spot againSpotting history
The flight card counts your previous spots of that exact aircraft. Its history lists every encounter: yours, your friends’ and everyone else’s. A familiar tail becomes a familiar face.

Spotting history
My history: your 3 spots.
Flying history
Aircraft you’ve flown on are marked as flown. When the jet from your last trip passes overhead, it stands out on the map in red, and it becomes part of your story.

Outline colors mark what you’ve spotted, what you’ve flown on and what’s special, so you can scan the sky for something new at a glance.

Highlights Pro
The game. Every spot earns points. Some earn more.
Spot Value
Closer sightings, rarer types and special liveries are worth more. The same airframe is worth a little less each time, so there’s always a reason to find something new.
